Travel Information

The colloquium will be held at the Accademia delle Scienze, via Accademia delle Scienze 6, 10123 Torino, which is located in the historical city centre within walking distance from the railway stations (see the map). Torino can be reached by flight, train or car.

Flight connections

The "Sandro Pertini" international airport (Torino Caselle) is connected with all major european hubs, including Rome, Paris, Frankfurt, Munich, London, Brussels, Madrid, Barcelona. It has links with the city centre via an Airport Shuttle whose terminus is next to the principal railway station of Porta Nuova (corner of via Sacchi and corso Vittorio Emanuele). From this point you can take a city bus or walk as described below.

It is possible to reach Torino also via the airports of Milano Malpensa and Milano Linate. From Milano you can take the train to Torino (1h 45min, a train leaves every hour).

Railways Connections

Trains arrive at the stations of Torino Porta Nuova (principal station) and Torino Porta Susa, both situated in the city centre. Porta Nuova is closer to the Accademia delle Scienze. Taxis are available in front of both stations.
From Porta Nuova:
On foot: exit the station on the main entrance and cross the square (Piazza Carlo Felice) Go straight under the archs (via Roma) till you reach Piazza San Carlo (800 m), then turn right (via Maria Vittoria).
By bus: exit on the left side (via Sacchi), where you will find a bus stop. You can take bus number 58 or tramways number 4, 12. Get out after 3 stops, walk other 20 meters then turn right in via Santa Teresa, which after one block changes name in via Maria Vittoria..
From Porta Susa:
On foot: exiting the staion you'll find in Piazza XVIII Dicembre. Go straight on directly in front of you (via Cernaia) for around 1300 m and you'll be at the Accademia. The road changes name (via Cernaia, then via Santa Teresa, then via Maria Vittoria).
By bus: exiting the station, you'll find a bus stop in front of you. Take tramway number 13 that goes toward via Cernaia. Get out at Piazza Castello, than go straight through via Carlo Alberto for about 100 meters.

Motorway connections

To reach the city centre:

1) Heading SOUTH (A6/E717 Savona, Nice, French Riviera): exit the motorway at Torino-Corso Unita' d'Italia. Always go straight till the city centre.

2) Heading EAST (A4/E41 Milano): take the northern ring road in the direction of Savona and exit at Torino-corso Regina Margherita. Go straight on for approximately two kilometres.

3) Heading NORTH (A5/E25 Aosta): take the northern ring road in the direction of Savona and then continue as for the EAST.

4) Heading WEST (A32/E70 Frejus): take the northern ring road in the direction of Milano and exit at Torino-corso Regina Margherita. Go straight on for approximately two kilometres.
